FAQs

DESIGN FAQs

Can Forge create a one-of-a kind design for my project?

1

Absolutely! Custom design sits at the heart of what we do.

Whether you're designing a luxury residence, hospitality venue or commercial space, we can create a unique design that responds to the architecture, landscape, brand or story behind the project. Every custom design is developed in-house, specifically for the space, ensuring the final result feels integrated rather than applied as an afterthought.

How is Forge Architectural different from off-the-shelf decorative screens?

2

Most decorative screens are selected from a catalogue and repeated across multiple projects. While they can look great, they aren't designed specifically for your space.

Forge Architectural takes a different approach. We offer a true ‘custom’ experience. We combine design expertise, architectural understanding and advanced CAD capabilities to create solutions that are tailored to each project. From the overall concept through to fabrication-ready documentation, every design is developed with both aesthetics and installation in mind.

The result is a more considered, site-specific outcome that reflects the character of the project rather than a pattern chosen from a shelf.

Can you design something inspired by my home, landscape or story?

3

Yes we sure can!

Many of our most successful projects begin with a story, a place or a source of inspiration. This could be the surrounding landscape, local history, architectural details, cultural references, personal experiences or even a client's favourite destination.

We translate these ideas into metal designs that are both visually striking and meaningful, creating pieces that feel connected to their environment and the people who use them.

Can I customise an exisiting Forge design?

4

Yes.

Our existing collection can be used as a starting point and adapted to suit your project. This may include adjusting scale, density, proportions, panel layouts or integrating project-specific elements.

For clients seeking something entirely unique, we can also develop a fully custom design from concept through to completion.

Do you collaborate directly with architects, interior designers and landscape architects?

5

Yes. Collaboration is a key part of our process.

We regularly work alongside architects, interior designers, landscape architects, developers and builders to ensure our designs integrate seamlessly with the broader project vision.

Our team understands the technical requirements of construction and provides detailed CAD documentation, fabrication-ready files and installation considerations, making it easier for project teams to move from concept to delivery with confidence.

Can designs continue across multiple panels?

7

Yes.

In fact, many of our designs are specifically developed to flow across multiple panels, creating a larger architectural composition. This approach is particularly effective for facades, feature walls, screening systems and large-scale commercial projects.

Our team carefully considers panel sizes, material limitations, support structures and installation requirements during the design process to ensure the finished result appears seamless when viewed as a whole.

RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS

Can Forge Architectural design screens and metal artwork for luxury homes?

1

Absolutely.

We specialise in creating bespoke architectural features for high-end residential projects. Rather than relying on standard patterns, we develop designs that respond to the home's architecture, landscape and surrounding environment.

Whether it's a statement entry gate, facade feature, privacy screen, balustrade or outdoor entertaining space, our goal is to create pieces that feel as though they were designed as part of the home from the very beginning.

Who creates the designs for Forge Architectural?

2

All of our designs have been created by Deborah VanDieren and our team of designers.

Can we work directly with the Deborah and the design team?

3

Yes, absolutely!

We love to have your input and value your ideas. We believe the best designs are built through a deep understanding of the space and the people who will be using it.

Can you create large-scale feature walls?

4

Yes.

Many of our projects involve feature walls that extend well beyond the size of a single sheet of material. Using advanced CAD modelling and panelisation techniques, we design artwork and patterns that flow seamlessly across multiple panels while carefully managing joins, structural requirements and installation considerations.

The result is a large-scale feature that reads as a single architectural element rather than a collection of individual panels.

Can decorative provide privacy without blocking out light?

5

Yes.

One of the greatest advantages of decorative metal screening is its ability to balance privacy, light and airflow. By carefully controlling the size, density and arrangement of openings within a design, we can create screens that provide privacy from neighbouring properties or public spaces while still allowing natural light and ventilation to pass through.

This makes decorative screening an ideal solution for facades, balconies, outdoor living areas and pool surrounds.

COMMERCIAL PROJECTS

Can Forge Architectural assist with restaurant and hospitality projects?

1

Yes.

Forge has extensive experience designing architectural features for hospitality environments, including restaurants, hotels, bars, clubs and entertainment venues. We understand the importance of creating memorable spaces that contribute to the overall guest experience while remaining practical to fabricate and install.

From feature walls and facades to privacy screening, ceilings and illuminated architectural elements, we work closely with designers, architects and project teams to deliver solutions that are both visually impactful and commercially viable.

Can Forge Architectural large facade installations?

2

Absolutely.

Large-scale facade design is one of our specialties. Whether the design spans a single building elevation or wraps around an entire structure, we develop concepts that maintain visual continuity while accommodating structural, fabrication and installation requirements.

Our experience includes complex architectural facades, multi-storey screening systems and large-format decorative installations where both aesthetics and buildability are critical to project success.

Do you provide artwork and fabrication files for approval?

3

Yes.

All Forge designs are developed using industry-standard CAD software and can be supplied as fabrication-ready files suitable for laser cutting, CNC processing and manufacturing.

Our documentation can include panel layouts, dimensions, fixing details, installation considerations and other technical information required to streamline fabrication and delivery.

Can designs be illuminated?

4

Yes.

Many of our designs are specifically created with lighting in mind. Decorative screens can be front-lit, backlit or integrated with custom lighting systems to create dramatic effects during the evening while adding an additional layer of visual interest to the design. We don’t supply lighting components ourselves however we are happy to collaborate with your contractors to ensure a beautiful outcome.

We consider lighting requirements during the design phase to ensure patterns, perforations and panel layouts perform effectively both during the day and at night. In many cases, illumination can transform an architectural feature into a landmark element after dark.
